Principal Software Engineer
INDIA – Bengaluru, India
Job Type: Full-Time
SupportSoft India is looking for a Principal Software Engineer who will design, develop, and implement new ideas and products for directed software solutions. S/he will be responsible for anticipating and resolving complex problems that impact the design of current and developing products. In addition, s/he will advise and perform design and development of software solutions and conduct code reviews. S/he will provide mentorship for developing both senior software and software engineers.

  • Lead the development and testing of software features, applications and solutions and deliver within the set schedule with high degree of quality, extensibility and scalability.
  • Take ownership of modules and review project against goals to provide status reports.
  • Conduct code reviews. Understand code quickly and learn / navigate unfamiliar code quickly
  • Mentor senior software engineers and software engineers.
  • Demonstrate creativity in identifying effective approaches to software and solution development process and promote opportunities for product innovation.
  • Identify product needs and potential enhancements, design, develop and implement software applications and solutions in conjunction with Development Manager or designate.
  • Write and review documentation needed for usage, maintenance and installation of applications and solutions.
  • Actively interface with the product marketing, global services team and Customer/Partners to address issues in the field.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with co-workers and individual contributors.
  • Participate in interviewing and hiring practices as directed and advised by manager and/or Human Resources.
  • Retain and keep appraised of industry intelligence, changes in the market place and opportunity for current and new products relating to support software.


  • Exhibit a “can-do” approach and inspire associates to excel, confront negative attitudes and develop a team spirit.
  • B.E/B.Tech/MCA/M.Tech/M.E from an accredited university or college (domestic and international).
  • Minimum 6 years experience in the software industry.
  • Must have demonstrated programming ability in several of the following: C/C++, .Net/C# or Databases. Working knowledge in HTML, ASP, VBScript,JavaScript, COM, XML and Win32.
  • Must be proficient in development environments, debugging tools and source control systems.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation and communication skills. Able to cultivate interpersonal Customer/Partner relationships and cohesive team interactions and communications.
  • Assertive self-starter with excellent organizational skills.
